More than 60 firefighters have tackled a large heath fire near Army firing ranges on Thursday afternoon. Dorset Fire and Rescue Service said ten fire engines and four land rovers were needed to bring the fire at the Lulworth Army range under control.
A fire service spokesman said it appeared that the fire had been caused by the live rounds used by the Army.
The firing ranges at Lulworth start near the east side of Lulworth Cove and run through to Kimmeridge.
It is understood that eight hectares of heathland were affected.
