Passengers may double at airport
Passenger numbers are expected to double at Bournemouth airport as a number of new routes are launched.

Thomsonfly.com began its first services from the airport on Tuesday, to seven destinations including Malaga, Majorca, Paris, Amsterdam and Pisa.

On Wednesday Jet2.com begins a daily service from Bournemouth to Belfast.

The airport says the new flights will boost passenger numbers from 495,000 in 2004 to a million this year. Up to 100 new jobs have also been created.

The first Thomsonfly flight, to the Spanish city of Valencia, took off at 0645 GMT.

New services were also launched at nearby Southampton aiport on Tuesday.

However, environmentalists and some residents are unhappy at the expansion, which they say will increase pollution and noise.
