Easter eggs cause waste worries
Easter eggs
Council chiefs fear a rise in waste over the Easter period
Waste chiefs are warning parents to think carefully before buying children Easter eggs with excessive packaging.

North Dorset District Council bosses - who are trying to recycle one third of household waste - say the Easter period always sees more waste created.

They want residents to buy eggs with less packaging or to make sure they recycle foil wrapping at foil banks.

Cardboard should also be taken to household recycling centres at Blandford and Shaftesbury, they say.

Sarah Wasey, the council's policy officer for recycling and waste management, said: "So much extra needless waste is produced at Easter that could so easily be avoided."
