Plans for a new �8m arts and entertainment centre on the site of a former concert hall have been given the green light by council leaders. Bournemouth Borough Council Cabinet has recommended that a planning brief is drawn up and architects appointed for a new centre on the Winter Gardens site.
Wednesday's agreement follows a lengthy row over the historical venue's proposed demolition.
A final decision is expected when the council meets in full on Tuesday.

Hundreds of people have backed a campaign to save the Winter Gardens from the bulldozers.
The council is now set to press ahead with its plan to replace it with a centre that will boast a Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra music education centre.
There will also be a recording and editing studio, two separate performance areas, an art house cinema and a caf�.
The council has vowed to support the centre with a �300,000 a year subsidy.
Councillor Angela Manton said: "I'm really pleased that this decision has been made. We are keen to get the ball rolling so that Bournemouth will have a fantastic new facility to be proud of.
