An army officer from Dorset has fallen to his death in a paragliding accident in the French Alps. Major Colin Petchey, 44, was on a training expedition in the Mount Blanc region when the accident happened.
His body is to be flown home later this week. An Army team has been sent to Chamonix to carry out an investigation into the incident on Sunday.
Warminster-based Major Petchey lived in Portland, Dorset, with his wife Tina and two sons Niall and Nathan.
He was a member of the Rifle Volunteers at the Army's Land Warfare Centre.
