Gypsy leader to head race meeting
A campaigner for gypsy and travellers' rights is to be the lead speaker at the annual general meeting of the Dorset Race Equality Council.

Len Smith, director of the European Committee on Romani Emancipation, is to appear at the event at Bournemouth football club on 22 September.

The AGM is open to the public, although places must be booked in advance.

The meeting comes after the recent high-profile eviction of a group of travellers from land in Christchurch.

The 30-strong group had initially been allowed to stay on a site near the Two Riversmeet leisure centre, after a judge heard one of their number had given birth.

Those interested in attending the AGM should email dorset.raceequality@ukonline.co.uk or call 01202 553003.
