Dangerous drivers risk having their cars seized
Boy racers are being threatened with jail or losing their cars in a crackdown by police.

From Monday, Dorset Police will use powers under the Anti-Social Behaviour Act to stop dangerous driving in East Overcliff Drive.

The area near Bournemouth is a well-known haunt for boy racers and police hope the threat of prison will stop anti-social driving in the area.

Police say persistent offenders will also have their vehicles seized.

Inspector Mark Kelly said: "We often receive calls from people living in the East Overcliff area complaining of people using their cars inconsiderately.

"With our powers, anyone who is playing loud music, revving their engine or driving in a dangerous manner can be told to leave.

"If they return within 24 hours they will be arrested and if we see the same person committing further vehicle-related disturbances, we can seize their vehicle."
