The Helen Foundation was created to support young people |
Rockers Muse are supporting a charity set up in memory of a young Devon woman who was killed in a car crash. The band, from Teignmouth in Devon, are playing two gigs in the town on 4 and 5 September and have donated 32 tickets for the Helen Foundation to auction. The foundation was set up in memory of 24-year-old actress Helen Kirk who was killed in a road accident on Boxing Day in 2005. The band knew Ms Kirk well and are patrons of the foundation. Stadium band Muse, who formed in 1994, said the gigs were a way of "giving something back to the town". Matt Bellamy, Dom Howard and Chris Wolstenholme, who make up the band, will play to nightly crowds of thousands at two open air concerts at the Carlton Theatre on the resort's seafront. There are eight pairs of signed tickets for both nights and details of the auction are on The Helen Foundation website. Following Ms Kirk's death, her family and her boyfriend, Ben, set up The Helen Foundation to support young people from Teignbridge to purse a career in the arts.
