Diver Tom Daley is to be given a civic reception in his home town of Plymouth after his gold medal success in the World Diving Championships. The 15-year-old won the 10m platform category in Rome on Tuesday to become Britain's first individual champion. Plymouth City Council leader Vivian Pengelly said an open-top bus parade would be followed with a reception by the Lord Mayor on Friday 31 July. Daley's mother Debbie said a homecoming parade would be a "great surprise". Daley and his partner Max Brick will begin their challenge for a medal in the synchronised event on Friday. The 15-year-old is due to return to Plymouth on Monday.
