Digit Al in Devon for switch help

The analogue signal will be switched off gradually

Former Tomorrow's World presenter Maggie Philbin has been in Devon to help television viewers prepare for the switch over from analogue to digital.

The Pass It On campaign is part of Digital UK scheme offering practical help to about 68,000 people living in the Torbay and south Devon area.

Philbin joined forces with Digit Al in Totnes to make sure older and disabled people know what help is available.

The switch over to digital starts in the South West in April.

The analogue broadcasting system is gradually being switched off across the UK to create the capacity for new services.

Philbin said people who do not want extra channels, might believe the switch over will not affect them.

"They may not appreciate they still need to do something," she told BBC News.
