Plans for a wind farm in north Devon have been rejected because of the impact on bats. Torridge District Council rejected the scheme at the site a few miles from Stibb Cross and Buckland Brewer near Bideford.
Developer Ecotricity said it would appeal against the decision.
More than 200 people objected to the four turbines which Ecotricity said would have provided power for about 7,000 homes.
Ecotricity said the wind farm could create 9.2 megawatts of power which would contribute towards Devon's target of 151 megawatts of renewable energy by 2010.
