Green energy powers all the Shepherds' electrical goods |
A family from east Devon have started running their home almost entirely on renewable energy. Wind turbines and solar panels have been installed to generate power for their appliances, including the fridge freezer and TV.
The Shepherds from Umborne can also store surplus electricity so it is available when the sun is not shining.
Electricity is monitored via the internet and automatically switches to the mains if green supplies are low.
Neil Shepherd said: "We've recently renovated our house and we've added high levels of insulation and low energy producers but we've also added solar panels to provide electricity and a wind turbine."
