The timetable changes are due to take effect in December

The changes were made after FGW received more than 9,000 responses during a consultation period.

They include the continuation of two London to Exeter services and two three-hour trips from Plymouth.

The high-speed service between Weston-super-Mare and Paddington will also now be retained.

New livery

FGW said the modifications addressed most of the concerns raised during the consultation.

Managing Director Alison Forster said: "As a result of the feedback, we're delighted that we are able to make modifications to the draft timetable.

"The changes we're announcing are the main improvements to the draft December timetable, but we will continue to make additional changes over the next few weeks."

The company announced its changes on the first day of its new Greater Western Franchise.

It is celebrating the new franchise with a special service which will travel in a new livery from London Paddington.

The entertainment provided at stations across the south and south west of England includes jazz bands, magicians and celebration cakes.
