Responsible tourism on the agenda
Eight businesses in north Devon have teamed up with a wildlife charity to learn more about how to promote responsible tourism.

The course run by Devon Wildlife Trust (DWT) aims to help businesses to encourage tourists to respect and explore more of the area's wildlife.

The training consisted of seminars involving wildlife assessments of their land as well as site visits.

The businesses included holiday parks and a farm considering a camp site.

The course also included seminars involving rockpool rambling and countryside trail planning.

Marie Burston, of DWT, said: "Tourism is such a big part of north Devon's economy and DWT realises that there is so much we can do to educate people coming into the area.

"All the businesses have taken to the training like ducks to water and it is exciting to see them now go away and become ambassadors for the north Devon wildlife and responsible tourism."

DWT said all the businesses who took part all now plan to implement the new ideas gained from the training.
