Gary and Julie Chivers have two other dogs |
Staff at a Devon animal centre are delighted that a deaf rescue dog who has been taught to recognise sign language has found new owners. Blue, an eight-month-old blue merle collie, was being cared for at the RSPCA's Little Valley Animal Shelter in Blackhat Lane, Exeter.
Blue had been taught seven signals and commands - his favourite being the thumbs-up sign, meaning "good boy".
He is starting a new life with Gary and Julie Chivers in Somerset.
His previous owners handed him over to the charity because they were expecting a baby and felt they could not devote enough time to him.
The Chivers, who live in Cheddar, are said to be "delighted" to have been able to make Blue part of their family.
They have two other dogs; another Blue merle collie called Tilly and a greyhound called Domino.
Both are rescue dogs.
