Stomach bug forces ward closures
A Devon hospital was forced to close three wards to new admissions on Saturday following the outbreak of a sickness bug.

Up to 50 patients have been affected by a Norwalk-like virus at Plymouth's Derriford Hospital.

It comes just a day after the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital shut five wards after 40 patients and 30 members of staff fell ill.

Another RD&E ward was shut on Saturday with a further two wards affected.

A spokeswoman for the hospital said they are hoping to be able to reopen two of the wards within the next 24 to 48 hours.

On Thursday a similar outbreak of sickness and diarrhoea closed more than 130 beds at the Royal Cornwall Hospital in Truro and West Cornwall Hospital in Penzance.
