A man arrested by police investigating a tortoise being stolen from a Devon zoo has been released on bail. The Leopard tortoise was taken from Paignton Zoo sometime during the past four weeks.
Inquiries led officers to a house in the resort's Pembroke Road where, after a search, the missing tortoise was found in a dog basket.
The creature has been returned to its keepers and is said to be in good health though suffering a slight cold.
A 31-year-old man was taken to Torquay police station, where he helped with inquiries. He was released on police bail to return to the station on 1 February.
