Colobus monkeys come from Mount Kilimanjaro |
Scientists at Paignton Zoo have won an award for a two-year project teaching animals to take medicines. The zoo's baboons and colobus monkeys have been trained to ingest items such as worming tablets, and to show their teeth for dental checks.
It means they can now be treated without being caught and sedated.
The work has won a national award from the animal welfare organisation UFOR which aims to improve the welfare of wild animals.
