A poll last year showed 76% of people supported wind power

Artists will be painting at Fullabrook Down, near Ilfracombe, portraying the area where there is an application for 22 wind turbines.

Christine Lovelock from Bradiford says the aim is to highlight the beauty of the area and protect it from turbines.

She says the hills and landscape are her inspiration and she wants to do something to keep them as they are.

The application for 22 turbines was submitted to the Department of Trade and Industry and North Devon District Council last September by Devon Wind Power.

Ms Lovelock's father James, who is a leading environmentalist and scientist, officially opened the first wind farm in Cornwall at Delabole, but later said he regretted his endorsement of them.

But despite some opposition to wind turbines, a survey carried out last year by the independent research company Mori, found that 76% of people living in Devon were in favour of wind power.
