The original proposal was for 20 turbines |
A planning application for a large wind farm in north Devon has been submitted to the government. The Department of Trade and Industry has confirmed it has received an application for 22 wind turbines at Fullabrook Down, near Ilfracombe.
The original proposal from Devon Wind Power was for 20 turbines at Fullabrook Down between Braunton and Ilfracombe - that has now been increased to 22.
Local anti-wind farm campaigners say they will fight the plan.
In a statement the company says that, following public consultation in the summer and an environmental assessment, the proposal has been refined.
It also says the proposals for Fullabrook represent the most viable way for Devon to meet wind energy targets.
Because the scheme is so big, the planning application has gone to the Department of Trade and Industry, as well as North Devon District Council.
