Smoking rooms closed at hospital
Derriford Hospital
Staff have been given details of smoking cessation groups
The biggest hospital in the South West has implemented the second stage of its policy aimed at it becoming smoke free by next year.

Smoking rooms for staff and patients have been closed at Derriford Hospital in Plymouth.

Plymouth Hospitals NHS Trust has now provided extra smoking facilities outside the building.

The trust said its aim was to make the whole Derriford site smoke-free by September 2007.

The hospital has received complaints about the number of people gathering outside the front entrance of the hospital to smoke.

Hospital staff are being encouraged to kick the habit in the form of information on smoking advice centres and details of groups which help people to stop.
