The coastguard says young people are ignoring warnings

It follows an incident on Sunday when a 23-year-old man was killed at Anstys Cove at Babbacombe, Devon.

Police said the man was believed to be 'tombstoning' - diving off rocks and cliff faces. He was pronounced dead at Torbay Hospital.

Les Jenkin from Brixham Coastguard says the good weather will probably result in more people risking their lives.

Spinal injuries

Mr Jenkin said: "Youngsters will be jumping into the sea and they're constantly being told not to.

"We had a similar incident at Dawlish, where a man dived into the water from the shore, not realising in was shallow water.

"He landed on his head and is in hospital with spinal injuries."

Elsewhere in Devon, a surfer was airlifted from Bantham Beach on Sunday and taken to Derriford Hospital with suspected spinal injuries and a female diver with a suspected case of the bends was rescued from a wreck in Whitsand Bay, Cornwall.
