Phil Smith will perform his show three times a day |
A Devon performer has come up with a novel way of ensuring every performance of his new show is played to a packed house. Phil Smith from Exeter is performing his 50-minute Crab Walks show at beach huts at Dawlish and Teignmouth.
The capacity at the Teignmouth venue is three, while the more capacious hut, at Dawlish, can hold an audience of four.
The show, which is free, is being supported by the Arts Council and Teignbridge District Council.

The show will be performed three times a day and is based on six weeks of exploring the coastline between Dawlish Warren and Paignton, where Smith used to spend his childhood holidays. He says it is all about memories, a search for hidden treasures and the origins of clotted cream.
And he passed so many beach huts on his walk he decided to stage his show in one.
"Last year, I spent six weeks walking around the south Devon coastline and visited the places I used to go to when I was a child," he said.
'Veering off'
"The show is very simple, about the things I found and the things I didn't find - the things which were there when I visited as a child but which are now gone.
The show is called Crab Walks because he found he spent much of the six weeks " walking sideways".
"I didn't keep on a straight line. I kept veering off into all sorts of interesting places, which is why the walk took me six weeks."
The show is for children over the age of 12 and admission is free but there will be a collection at the end of each performance.
It is in Dawlish from Monday 12 to Friday 16 July and at Teignmouth from Monday 19 to Friday 23 July.
