Beach scheme hits at hut vandals
Beach huts
Beach hut owners are being offered security advice by the police
Beach crime in south Devon is being targeted in a new campaign by local police and Torbay Council.

Devon and Cornwall Police and the council are launching Torbay Beach Watch to deal with crime involving the area's beach huts.

It aims to fight anti-social behaviour and criminal damage to some of Paignton's 800 beach huts.

The beaches most affected are Goodrington and Broadsands, which have been targets of burglary and arson.

Police patrols are being increased in the area and CCTV will be used to monitor criminal activity which takes place.

Officers will be working with park wardens, beach managers and security staff. Beach hut owners are also being offered security advice.
