People power saves beach shelter
Frinton beach shelter
The bills to repair the shelter were too much for the council
A beach shelter in Essex has been rescued from vandals by people power.

The local council at Frinton had decided to pull it down because the repairs were costing too much.

But residents who refused to accept the decision have donated their time and materials to restore it. The work should be finished by the weekend.

A number of different groups including Frinton in Bloom and the Beach Hut Owners' Association have worked together on the project.

The volunteers have promised to maintain the shelter for the next year.
