University's patient safety study
The University of Plymouth has been selected to pioneer new research into patient safety.

Experts will look at the way technology can help improve the current situation.

Patient Safety Networks were set up due to government concerns over medical errors in healthcare and the university won the bid to work on the project.

Its Adaptive Systems and Tailored Information Network will focus on the work that technology and computers play in patient safety.

It will be looking at ways of advancing monitoring and information systems.

It will also consider how to develop the capacity for tailoring drugs and treatment for the requirements of individual patients.

The network will be led by Judy Edworthy, from the School of Psychology, who will liaise with colleagues from London, Leeds, Liverpool and Derbyshire.
