A record number of women have signed up to study engineering at a Devon University. About 31% of the building surveying students to join Plymouth University this year were women.
The course tutors have called it a "real achievement".
The University says getting a better balance between men and women in the industry is vital to making sure there is enough skilled labour in the future.
The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors says only 10% of its members are female.
It says more needs to be done to get rid of the traditionally masculine image associated with construction.
