A statement from the council says racial abuse will not be tolerated
Allegations of racial abuse at a Plymouth school are being investigated.

It follows reports of an incident at Parkside Community College, involving a large number of pupils.

Devon and Cornwall Police say they received reports of racial abuse and threats at the school at about 1545 BST on Wednesday.

Officers, who will be examining CCTV footage from the school, are due to speak to the school management team on Friday morning.

Appropriate action

A police spokesman says the allegations are being taken very seriously.

Plymouth City Council has issued a statement confirming it is investigating the incident of alleged racist abuse.

It says the matter was dealt with quickly by staff at the school.

The statement says racism of any sort will not be tolerated and appropriate action will be taken once the full facts have been established.
