Budget airline begins new routes
Flybe aircraft
Three Mediterranean holiday destinations will be served by Exeter
Devon-based budget airline Flybe has tripled its number of flights in and out of Exeter Airport.

The company has started daily services from Exeter to the Mediterranean holiday destinations of Alicante, Malaga and Faro.

There are also three new UK routes - Glasgow and Edinburgh in Scotland and Belfast in Northern Ireland.

Business leaders hope the increased number of flights will help boost the South West economy.

It is a big boost for Exeter Airport, which was previously best known for offering limited schedule services, mainly to Jersey, Guernsey and Dublin.

The routes to Scotland and Northern Ireland, in particular, have good potential for inbound tourism.

It is hoped they will also open up new business investment in the region.
