Beheaded rabbits found in garage
The remains of beheaded and skinned rabbits have been discovered in a garage in Exeter by RSPCA officials.

The rabbits were found in a garage, which was not being used by its owner, in Shakespeare Road in Wonford.

The bodies of several rabbits were discovered in parts inside and outside the building with their legs cut off.

A joint police and RSPCA investigation is now taking place to see whether any offences of cruelty have been committed.

'Very disturbing'

It is believed the rabbits, which were probably wild rather than domestic, were alive at some point in the garage as droppings were found at the site.

A number of items have been removed from the garage for examination, along with the remains of the rabbits, which will be sent for a post-mortem.

RSPCA inspector Tony Woodley said: "This is obviously a very disturbing incident and we are investigating a number of possible offences concerning whether these animals were subjected to cruelty when they were alive."

The local council has now cleansed the garage.
