New road junction in city revamp
Demolition in Plymouth City Centre
Buildings are demolished to make way for the revamp
Pedestrians and drivers in Plymouth will need to adapt to a new road layout from Monday around Drake Circus.

It is the latest stage in the 170m redevelopment of the area.

The biggest change will be turning Drake Circus roundabout into a T-junction.

Until the end of the summer it will be a dual carriageway, and drivers will find getting in and out of the city centre might take them longer than usual.

Pedestrians will not be able to walk through Drake Circus roundabout any more because they have to go round the outside.

The end result of the development will be a brand new shopping centre that planners hope will draw even more people into Plymouth.

Demolition work started last month as part of the revamp.

It is hoped the new shopping centre, a 60,000sq metre development featuring 45 shops, cafes and restaurants, will be ready to open in autumn 2006.
