A Devon man who had been waiting for a kidney transplant for 10 years says receiving his son's kidney has brought them closer together. Keith Forbes, 47, from Exeter, underwent a two-hour transplant operation to receive his 20-year-old son's organ at a hospital in Bristol on 12 January.
Mr Forbes, a former train driver, has just spent his first weekend at home following the operation at Bristol's Southmead Hospital.
The operation should mean Mr Forbes will no longer have to go through lengthy dialysis sessions, three times a week.
He had been on dialysis for a decade before the operation.

He carried a pager in case a donor kidney became available, but it never went off. His son Richard, 18-year-old daughter Clare and wife Jane, 43, were all prepared to give a kidney.
But doctors decided that Richard was the most suitable donor.
Mr Forbes said it would take him around six months to reach full fitness.
He said he had his first drink of alcohol for 10 years at the weekend - but could not finish it.
"I had a half of lager but did not drink it all. I just was not used to it," he said.
