South West reservoirs are an average of 58% full |
South West Water says reservoir levels in the region have fallen to their lowest mark for seven years. The region's reservoirs are currently, on average, 58% full, the lowest level since 1996when a ban on using hosepipes was enforced.
But South West Water says the current levels are still well above that year and they do not expect there will be any need to introduce restrictions.
The low level of the region's reservoirs is an indication of how dry summer and autumn has been in the region.
The total reservoir storage in the South West is 12.7% less than this time last year.
Measurements taken on 5 October show Roadford at 61.6% of its total storage capacity and Colliford at 62.6%.
Stithians is on 55%, Wimbleball 44.1% and Burrator just 38.5%.
