Castle Cove in Dartmouth has been closed since 1999 |
A popular beach in south Devon which has been closed to the public for four years could re-open. It follows the news that the county council has committed money towards rebuilding a new footpath.
Castle Cove in Dartmouth has been shut off since 1999, when storm damage closed the path down to it.
There has been anger in the town about the continued closure of the beach and a petition of 7,000 signatures was recently presented to councillors.
Now the Executive of the county council has agreed to commit 9,000 for the initial design costs for a new path to Castle Cove.
But the money is dependent on an equal contribution from South Hams District Council.
