Lifeguards say some people ignore warning signs

It is one of a number of safety measures being considered for local beaches.

Tuesday's seminar has been organised by Penwith District Council.

It follows a number of serious incidents over the summer, the most recent of which involved a drowning at Godrevy beach.

Lifeguards said on the day holidaymaker Arvind Puri died last month some people were ignoring the red flag, which signifies dangerous currents.

Many of them say they have been physically and verbally abused by people who resist their advice.

There are also plans to regulate sports like kite-surfing after a man was carried 15 metres by an unthethered surf kite at Long Rock beach.
