 Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital retained its three star status |
The biggest hospitals serving patients in the South West have improved their performance over the past 12 months according to a report out on Wednesday. This is the first year that the Commission for Health Improvement has published star ratings for the country's health trusts.
The maximum a trust can score is three stars and the lowest zero.
The Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital scored the maximum three stars again this year ensuring its bid for Foundation Hospital status can continue as planned.
Biggest hospital
The Royal Cornwall Hospital went up one star to two stars while Derriford in Plymouth - the biggest hospital in the region - also went from one to two.
Torbay went from two stars to three while North Devon remains a two star trust for the second year running.
Devon has 10 primary care trusts providing local services and mental health care - four received top marks and six received two stars.
West of Cornwall and Central Cornwall Primary Care Trusts gained one star while North and East Cornwall scored two as did the Partnership Trust which cares for people with mental health problems.
And Westcountry Ambulance service gained three stars.
