Watchdog calls for closure 'halt'
post office
Geoff Creeber's Pomphlett office closed in March
The official watchdog for the UK's postal services is calling for a halt to post office closures in Plymouth.

Six post offices have already closed or are about to close in the city, and three other closures are going through the public consultation process.

Postwatch says Plymouth has seen too many branch closures.

And following talks with the group the Royal Mail has agreed to put a hold on three proposed closures at Beechwood Avenue, Eggbuckland Road and Sutton Road.

Bigger picture

The Chairman of Postwatch in the South West, Charles Howeson, says they want the Post Office to produce a plan detailing all the branches it wants to shut down in Plymouth.

Mr Howeson says they need to consider the bigger picture before any more post offices can be allowed to close.
