A gymnast from Derbyshire has returned from the World Tumbling Championships with a silver medal.

Greg Townley from Belper won his medal at the acrobatic event in Russia.

The 13-year-old trains at the Derby City Gymnastic Club and is already a six-time British Champion within his age group.

Greg, who hopes to become a professional stuntman like his coach Damien Walters, who works in Hollywood productions, said he was very proud.

Action movie

He said: "It was great, a good experience. I went to the last one as well, came 10th, but this one's been really good.

"It was really cold as well. I was training for about three days on the track, getting used to it and then it was straight into the competition."

Greg has just finished filming some stunts for "Kick-Ass", a film starring Nicolas Cage due out next year.

Damien Walters said people involved with the movie had been impressed with Greg's talent.

He said: "He (Greg) said to me that's the way he wants to go. If I can help him in that way then obviously I will do.

"It's nice for him to do that. Obviously, at a young age there's only certain parts you can play."
