A black music event organised in protest against the British National Party's (BNP) annual festival in Derbyshire has been postponed. The Red, Black and Green event was scheduled in Derby on the same day as the Red, White and Blue festival. Organisers claimed police had warned there could be trouble on Saturday, prompting them to cancel. But Derbyshire Police said they had not objected to the event or applied any pressure for it to be cancelled. The music festival was organised by Baby J Enterprises and Hella Music to support the Love Music Hate Racism campaign in protest against the BNP's Red White and Blue event in Denby. Risk assessment The organisers said the police had contacted the venue, West End Community Centre in Derby, about concerns over firearms. A police spokesperson said they had asked for a risk assessment, which they would do for any event. A spokesperson from Baby J Enterprises said: "Although the police say they cannot actually cancel an event they put enough pressure on for the venue to feel unhappy to let the event go ahead. "We have already opened talks with venues and artists to go ahead with an even bigger and better rearranged event in the near future." He added the Unite Against Fascism protest against the BNP event would go ahead on Saturday with appearances from some of the local musicians due to perform at the Red, Black and Green festival.
