Gadgets help independent living
The latest technology designed to help vulnerable people live independently is to go on show at a special exhibition.

Liberation Day is designed to showcase ways gadgets can help older people look after themselves.

Derby Care Link will be showing devices that can be installed in the home and linked to its call centre, which is permanently staffed.

The equipment includes sensors that detect falls, fires, smoke, flood, gas leaks and intruders.

Derby City Council's Community Services Manager, Anne Brown, said: "The Telecare equipment we can provide through Care Link is very sophisticated.

"We will be showing a full range of alarms and sensors that enable people to live as independently as possible, in the knowledge that help can be summoned automatically if needed."

The free event is open to anyone over 50 and is being held at the Assembly Rooms, Derby, on 4 May.
