Reservoir mistake pulls the plug
Residents in part of the Peak District are being asked to use less water after problems with a valve almost drained a local reservoir.

Severn Trent Water said people living in Buxton and surrounding villages may be experiencing low water pressure.

Spokeswoman Jo Smith said: "We had a problem refilling the Bradwell Moor reservoir overnight and it was as low as 15% at one point."

She said residents should use less water for a day but not panic.

Pots and pans

"People might have low pressure tonight but they should all have supply.

"They shouldn't start filling baths and pots and pans as this will just drain it even more."

A valve that should have been closed off was left open so water drained into another reservoir, she said.

The areas affected included the SK17 post code area and the villages of Tideswell, Doves Holes, Worm Hill and Chelmorton.
