Warning after power line attack
An investigation is under way after vandals tried to cut through an electricity cable in Derbyshire.

Police say a hacksaw was used to try and sever a main power line carrying 11,000 volts.

The incident in Shirebrook left more than 1,500 people without electricity for about an hour on 6 March.

Officials from Central Networks said both children and adults should stay away from electrical equipment which is potentially very dangerous.

Rebecca Middleton, from Central Networks, said: "If children play with our electricity equipment they are really playing with their lives - it's serious stuff.

"I would advise all children to stay away from our installations - we have danger of death signs up for a reason."
