Bogus callers targeted by police
A national database could be launched to hold information about bogus callers who target elderly people.

Derbyshire Police has already set up a consortium of forces across the country to crackdown on distraction burglars.

It is currently made up of 11 forces, but Derbyshire Police wants to involve even more constabularies.

It hopes a national database would then follow, containing information about the people who have committed crimes and those who are suspected of it.

The number of known distraction burglaries in Derbyshire fell from 313 in 2003 to 238 last year.
