More calls were made during the 2004 Rat on a Rat scheme |
A campaign for people to shop drug dealers has been hailed a success. Derbyshire Police say the Rat on a Rat initiative, which ran over the summer, has seen an increase in the number of drugs seized.
Drug-related calls to Crimestoppers rose during the course of this year's three-month scheme compared to 2003.
About 42,000 worth of drugs were seized in the past six months, an increase of 19,000 in the same period in 2003.
Deputy Chief Constable Alan Goodwin said: "Rat on a Rat is all about getting ordinary people to come forward with information that could help the police target drug dealing and it worked.
"We realise drugs are a concern for people in Derbyshire and drug misuse can affect many people's lives."
