Book explains Peak planning rules

The Peak District planning rules are explained in a new book
A plain English guide has been brought out for people wanting to build homes in the Peak District.

The idea is to simplify the park authority's planning code so people can understand the rules to work out how applications are decided.

Spokesman Narendra Bajaria said the rules had been difficult to understand and needed some explanation.

"To some people they can be confusing and a little mysterious too," Mr Bajaria said.

"We wanted to see how we could help people to go through the process simply and really to request them to come and talk to planners at Peak Park."

The Peak District National Park Authority is made up of 38 members - councillors and other appointed people - with some planning powers that would normally lie with councils.
