| Central Trains has stepped in to save an early morning commuter service between Matlock and Derby. The 6.38am service, which is regularly used by up to 80 people, was due to be stopped at the beginning of December. Local people campaigned to keep the service running after Midland Mainline decided it was no longer viable. Alistair Morley, from the Derwent Valley Rural Transport Partnership, said axing the service would have meant commuters using cars instead.
