Passenger train service returns
Ecclesbourne Valley Railway
Ecclesbourne Valley Railway hopes to run regular services
A passenger train has run along an historic railway after more than a decade of campaigning to reopen the line.

A daily service will run on the line between Wirksworth and Duffield in Derbyshire.

Wyvern Rail, which owns the Ecclesbourne Valley Railway has also been awarded more than 90,000 to extend the eight-mile track.

It will then link up with the National Stone Centre in Wirksworth.

An air-conditioned former Gatwick Express train, the most modern on a private line, will journey along a one-kilometre stretch from one end of Wirksworth to the other on Tuesday.
