Almost �200,000 is being spent in an attempt to reduce the impact of quarrying in Derbyshire. More than a dozen different groups will receive cash from tax paid by quarry companies to help reduce the ill effects of excavating.
Middleton Village Hall is getting almost �30,000 to insulate walls and install double glazing to help cut out the noise of the nearby quarry.
In Cromford, �5,000 is being spent on creating a safe play area for children.
Ecclesbourne Valley Railway Association is to receive �25,000 to restore the former mineral track.
The money is coming from Derbyshire County Council's aggregates levy scheme, which was set up three years ago to help communities affected by quarrying.
