The humps became a major local issue |
Two streets in Derby where road humps were torn up are to be targeted by speed cameras. The city council ripped up humps in Grampian Way at Sinfin and Boulton Lane after protests.
Now the roads will be added to the list of sites where mobile speed cameras are used.
Derbyshire Safety Camera Partnership is basing the decision on traffic figures recorded before the speed humps were laid.
The partnership says the level of speeding on the roads does not meet the criteria allowing fixed cameras to be used.
City council cabinet member Lucy Care felt it was the best solution.
She said: "I am grateful to the partnership for looking at (the situation) in this way.
"Local people considered this one of the acceptable ways or providing traffic calming from a survey we did."
