Residents rid roads of speed humps
Campaigners picketing
Residents demonstrated outside local shops
The last of a series of road humps in part of Derby are to be removed after two years of campaigning and almost eight months of work.

People living in the Boulton area complained the bumps were damaging their cars.

About 3,000 people signed a petition to have them removed.

The last two will be removed at the weekend.

Speed cameras may be introduced to slow motorists down instead.

The Cruise group, which opposed the installation of speed bumps in the first place, felt there were more effective ways to make the area safe.

Thelma Bradshaw from the group, said: "We asked for cameras first of all because we wanted something that was not intrusive.

"These humps are very intrusive causing difficulty and even damaging the bottom of people's cars.

"These had a down-side as well as the obvious up-side."
